Credit Union Internal Auditors' Association
_______________Helping Credit Unions Succeed_______________
I hope everyone has had a great summer with family vacations and some true relaxing from the rigors of being an Internal Auditor. I know we did interrupt your leisure time with a very successful series of northern and southern regional training meetings, but from the responses they appeared to have been well worth it.
As your chairperson for the next year it is my goal to continue providing more educational opportunities to our membership, however, it is becoming more difficult as your training budgets continue to be limited. The recent conference survey confirmed this since we only had 8 positive responses and 10 maybes out of 29 who completed the survey. As I noted in the survey we need at least 40 attendees to make a conference financially feasible, so it appears to be out of reach through at least 2012. We regret having to make this decision, but it is the only logical one at this point in time.
In 2011 there will be an ACUIA regional training session that CUIAA members will be able to attend at the regular member pricing. However, it will be held in Arizona so may still be out of reach for many of you. We will have more on this posted on the web site as soon as it becomes available.
In mid-2012 there is going to be an IIA Western District multi-track one-day seminar in the Los Angeles area so might be an affordable opportunity for many of our members. Details aren't available yet, but I am hoping we can get a financial institution track included that might provide beneficial. We will post more as the details are released by the seminar planning group.
I want to apologize for any problems you are experiencing with parts of the web site. Our ISP (Earthlink) has not corrected the underlying problems and have not given us an expected date for a fix. It appears to only involve the members only section, but if you experience an error with one of the other links, please let me know.
I am looking forward to a great year with a strong board behind me. If you have any suggestions for presentations or just subjects of general interest, please pass them along to Sonia Donald.
